Bury St Edmunds y Norwich / Bury St Edmunds and Norwich

Hace más de un año que alguna lectora del blog (no consigo recordar quién, sorry!) me recomendó que visitara Bury St Edmunds porque era una ciudad muy bonita, así que tras más de un año por fin fuimos, y de paso seguimos hacia Norwich, por lo que era un viaje de pasear por las ciudades, más que ver cosas turísticas. El viaje lo hicimos con Sara, Natalia y Amaia (una chica que lleva dos semanas aquí pero que ya estuvo hace tiempo, se fue justo el mes antes de que nosotros llegáramos).

 

One year ago a blog reader (I can't remember who was, sorry!) recommended me visiting Bury St Edmunds because it's a nice city, so one year later we went there, and we took advantage of going to Norwich. This trip was more about looking the city than visiting places. We went with Sara, Natalia and Amaia (who arrived two weeks ago, but she was living here until the month before we arrived).

 

En Bury St Edmunds dimos una vuelta por el mercado de la ciudad y tras callejear por sus principales calles llegamos a un gran parque donde se encuentran los restos de una abadía. Allí sólo estuvimos unas dos horas porque tampoco había mucho que ver y todavía nos quedaba una hora de trayecto hacia Norwich.

 

In Bury St Edmunds we went to the market and walking through the main streets we arrived to the big park where there the ruins of the Abbey are. There we were only two hours because it's not a touristic place and we had to go until Norwich, which was one hour away.

Ya en Norwich vimos su famoso castillo desde afuera (actualmente es un museo) y bajamos hacia su característico mercado de casetas de colores por la galería Royal Arcade, un gran pasillo con distintas tiendas. Desde la plaza del mercado se podía ver el ayuntamiento, el cual tiene el balcón más largo de toda Inglaterra. Luego seguimos hacia el río desde donde obtuvimos una bonita vista de las casas reflejadas en el agua, paseamos por las calles empedradas medievales y finalmente entramos en la catedral, la cual era impresionante.

 

In Norwich we saw the famous castle, but just from outside because now it's a museum, and we went downway through the Royal Arcade, where there were lots of shops until we arrived to the typical market of Norwich. From this square you could see the Council, which has the longest balcony of England. Then we continued to the river where we saw a beautiful viewpoint of the houses reflected on the water, we went through the medieval streets and finally we entered to the Cathedral, which was amazing.

En este viaje lo pasamos muy bien, no era tanto de visitar sino más de pasear por las calles y ver el ambiente. ¿El próximo destino? Yo creo que será Dedham, que nos han hablado muy bien de esta ciudad, pero este mes estará lleno de babysittings por lo que tendremos que esperar ;).

 

In this trip we had fun, it wasn't too much about sightseeing, it was more walking through the streets and getting an impression of these cities. The next destiny? I think it will be Dedham, because some people have talked to us about this beautiful city, but we will have to wait because we have lots of babysittings this month ;).
